I would like to start out by apologizing for not posting in forever. It has been so busy around here and blogging fell to the bottom of my to do list. Troy and I are doing great as are Apollo and Winkers! I have gotten into the swing of things with school and survived my first gauntlet of tests :) Compared to the last two weeks, finals week should be a breeze! I am finding that for once in my life I am ok with mediocrity. This does not mean I am striving for mediocrity but, when I study as much as I can and I get a B, I am okay with that. If I wasn't I would be going crazy right now. I have to say I am looking forward to the day when we are finished with our "basic sciences". Science is the only reason I never wanted to be a dentist, that is up until my sophomore year in college. I did not want to deal with all those difficult sciences but needless to say I think it will be well worth the sacrifice once I get to the point where I can look back at all of these classes and just laugh and say, "Man I never even think about the TCA cycle." Which I am currently trying to memorize for the THIRD time in my life for my next Biochem test. Survival is my goal this semester.
Troy I am happy to report is loving his job! I am as well because this means we finally have an INCOME!! YAY!!! For those of you who don't know, Troy got a job with Bartlett Tree Experts. They are the guys that come in and remove dead trees and/or nurse damaged trees back to health. This company is nationwide and was started in the early 1900's. So they are a very stable company but they just opened a branch here in Augusta a little over a year ago. They are growing quite steadily despite the recession which is good because that means, unless something drastic happens, Troy should have this job the entire time I am in dental school. The other positive about this job is the fact that there are A LOT of opportunities for growth. Right now he is training to be a climber, which is the guy that climbs up in the tree and cuts the tree down piece by piece. I am not a big fan of this job but Troy reassures me that this company has never had any one die while on the job. His manager is going to train him in all the positions available at Bartlett because he wants him to be able to do multiple things. They also provide many opportunities for professional development and reward you for completing continuing ed courses, etc. It is all very optimistic looking and most importantly Troy enjoys it. He comes home exhausted and tattered but content :)
Apollo is doing wonderfully except for the fact that when he gets around a lot of chaos (kids running screaming, dogs barking, cars driving by, etc. ) her gets really nervous and stressed out and pulls me everywhere and barks and growls at everything. We are currently walking him up and down our busy street in order for him to get more used to it and to train him to behave in these scenarios because currently he does NOT! Also he and Winkers still don't get along at all and I am not going to hold my breath for that to happen any time soon. We took Apollo on a walk the other day and I got some cute pictures of my two boys :)
Alright well I must run to class! I hope everyone is having a wonderful day!

UGH The TCA cycle, I too have had to RE-rememberize this countless times! I would say I will so happy when I do not have to see it anymore BUT I will most likely be teaching it in high school... I will be forever haunted by the TCA cycle!
ReplyDeleteI love this post! I especially love the one with Troy and Apollo running.. the pup has his tongue out and looks so excited to be going so fast! The pics are great, too! If you get a minute, I posted (finally) a trip we took up in the mountains to look at the fall colors... you might enjoy seeing some fall color!
