Our First Anniversary!

Hello to all!! This last month has been kind of CRAZY!!! On April 26th, Troy and I become first time homeowners. The picture is us in front of the new house! We love it and are busy making it our own. As soon as I get all the pictures on the walls, etc. I will post some inside pictures of our new home! A week after we closed on the house, we traveled to Michigan for Troy's brother's. Kyle, wedding! We spent a wonderful several days surrounded by friends and family to celebrate this marvelous occasion. On our way home from Michigan, Kevin and Gwen took us back south through Ohio where we were able to visit Cleveland and Kevin's hometown of Akron! We very much enjoyed visiting the Kossick's old stomping grounds where we were able to see some neat landmarks of Kevin's childhood. The most recent exciting event we have had was our anniversary trip to Charleston! We celebrated our anniversary a week before the actual date because it was less expensive on a non-holiday weekend :). We had such a great time in Charleston and I am excited to share the trip with you!

Once Troy arrived home from work, we hit the road for the two and half hour drive to Charleston. We arrived late Friday evening and went straight to our little Bed and Breakfast, The Inn at I'On.Once we arrived we noticed there was a Pub across the street so we went over there for a midnight snack! Once we got back we fell asleep almost instantly in our very very comfortable bed.

We absolutely loved the place we stayed and it was everything we had hoped for our trip!We had an awesome porch off of our room that overlooked the street.

The next day we started out early and ate one of the most delicious breakfast's we have ever had! After we filled our stomachs to the brim, we drove downtown to the farmers market on Marion Square. We enjoyed some coffee and tea as we walked through the market and checked out the local produce. We then traveled to Sullivan's Island where we spent a couple of hours on the beach enjoying the sun.
I managed to turn into a lobster because I stupidly forgot the most important item for the beach..SUNSCREEN. After the beach we headed back to the b&b to shower and get changed for the afternoon/evening. We strolled around downtown and did a little shopping before we headed to our first restaurant of the evening, Charleston Beer Works.
We enjoyed some cheap appetizers and drinks before we took a pedicab over to Southend Brewery and Smokehouse where they had UNBELIEVEABLE food! Troy thoroughly enjoyed his meatloaf and mac and cheese, while I devoured my BBQ Chicken Pizza.
Sunday, we enjoyed another delicious breakfast and then headed back downtown for some more time on the beautiful streets of historical Charleston. We took a stroll down the boardwalk that runs along the water. We also visited Battery Park where they have the most beautiful trees I have ever seen. They are so mature and majestic. Troy on the other hand was analyzing them and their desperate need for pruning apparently, but only a tree man would notice that, just like I notice people's snaggle teeth and he doesn't (and yes "snaggle teeth" is a very technical term used in dentistry). C'est la vie.

We also stopped and visited with a very sweet elderly man who brings his dog to the park everyday and apparently she is the princess of Battery Park. She was sooooo incredibly soft it was like petting a cotton puff.
Around Battery Park there are tons of absolutely gorgeous homes that we dreamed of living in. As we walked down the streets, we marveled at the beautiful gardens of these massive homes.
The last thing we enjoyed in Charleston before we headed home was a quaint coffee/dessert bar where we enjoyed Italian sodas and a coffee, for me of course.
We are so glad we went on this special trip to celebrate our first year together. We are actually going to be able to enjoy our real anniversary with both of our families which I am very excited about. We are spending the weekend up at my parent's lake house and Gwen, Kevin, and Garrett are going to be there! Yay for the two best families in the world!

Love,
The Kossicks
