Summer Fun for the Kossicks

Since I haven't had time to post much since I started back to school for our summer semester, I am going to give a quick synopsis of the last few weeks of our lives.

Visit to Asheville to see Grammy and Grandaddy
Troy and I were able to go for the weekend and visit with my granparents who live in Asheville, NC. We really love going up there because it is just so beautiful! We sat out on their porch and enjoyed a delicious breakfast and enjoying the gorgeous view! The weather was really mild and we were able to enjoy a really nice hike around the arboretum there. We also enjoyed some of the best curry I have ever had at a little restaurant in downtown Hendersonville. Grammy and Grandaddy were so wonderful to hopen their home to us. We love them very much and always enjoy visiting them!

Garrett's Visit to Augusta
The weekend before I started back up with school, Garrett came to visit us! We hung out at the house, enjoyed some grilling out, and he was kind enough to help Troy remove some of the dense shrubbery we have overgrowing our backyard. One of the more eventful things we did was visit the gun range. Troy and Garrett had an amazing time....I did not at first. But once the newness of the loud blasts wore off, and the unreasonable fear I had that someone was going to go crazy on everyone in the gun range, I was able to take hold of the 9mm Beretta and fire several shots. Cross that off my to do list...

Handsome brothers hanging out on the porch

White Coat Ceremony
June 18 marked the the date of my white coat ceremony which I think is a way for the school to keep us motivated and congratulating us on surviving the first very challenging year. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole weekend though because both of our families came and spent the weekend with us! After the ceremony we just enjoyed visiting with everyone.

4th of July at the Lake House
For the holiday weekend Troy and I went to the lake house as tradition calls for! We thoroughly enjoyed the time we got to spend with family on the water. As usual enjoyed some delicious food and good times tubing, jet skiing, and just relaxing.

Mom's famous USA jello!

Weekend at the Lake House with Friends This past weekend, Troy and I brought our good friends, Matt and Jess with us to the lake house for a relaxing weekend away from Augusta. It was very very enjoyable and Garrett was able to make the drive over and spend the weekend with us as well! We spent most of the day down at the dock, on the boat, or playing on the jet skis. Saturday night Matt and Jess made us some delicious chicken and steaks for supper :) SUnday Jess and I went out on the tubes where Jess managed to lose her top (and when I say lose, I mean the latch on her top broke into two pieces). Thankfully her life vest was holding everything in place. On that same demounting of us off the tubes my life vest somehow got unzipped and unbuckled and I also suffered from some pretty serious whiplash. All is fare in tube world. Garrett was able to get up on the wakeboard on his first try! We came back to Augusta Sunday evening more tired then we were when we left but had some amazing memories!
So for those of you who don't know great dane's are NOT swimming dogs. Usually their hips are weaker and they don't get the amount of power they need generated with their back legs to stay above water. Because of this and the fact that Apollo has almost fallen off the dock several times Troy and I felt it would be wise to get him a life vest, just in case! He looks so darn cute doesn't he!?Garrett did a little bit of working out and when I say a little bit, it would be a ton for me.
Jess and I on a boat ride!
Holding on for dear life...
So glad they came with us!
Apollo after a long day on the water wanted to throw back a couple of "brewskies" as Troy calls them. (Please do not call PETA on me because this can is empty and it just presented for a hilarious picture!)
Garrett the professional wakeboarder :)
Troy driving the jet ski in an unconventional method!

We are really enjoying our summer as you can see and staying very very busy. Between Troy's work (50-60 hrs a week) and me in school with a new load of classes, tests, and a TON more lab work we really do not have much down town which is making for a very fast summer. We are so blessed to have so many opportunities for fun activities and are also very fortunate to be so close to our families and are able to spend so much time with them! Hopefully I can post sooner then 2 months from now!

Love,
The Kossicks
